As part of the exhibition “Ist-Zustand” by the artists’ collective perspektiven_ost
What shapes artistic practice when one’s own life story is rooted in the East German experience? And how do personal memories, social upheavals, and historical experiences influence contemporary artistic processes?
The artists’ collective perspektiven_ost —comprising the artists Berit Kröner, Christin Waterstrat, and Sophia Patzer— in an interdisciplinary discussion format. In a joint exchange with the artist Andrea Pichl, individual experiences with the German-German past are linked to current societal developments. “… in Arbeit” stands for an open process: for questions that are not yet resolved, for shifts in perspective, and for the collective search for new approaches.
The exhibition “Ist-Zustand” ( Oct. 2–11, 2026 , @ Studio 36, as part of KUNST HEUTE) brings together diverse artistic perspectives that engage with social realities, memory, and identity. It focuses on what becomes visible—and on what remains hidden, overlooked, or repressed. Photographic works, installations, and performances engage in dialogue with one another, opening up different perspectives on East German history and the present.
This creates a space where personal memories, societal attributions, and contemporary realities of life converge and invite reflection.
