Paintings from North German artists' colonies in private collections
The unspoiled nature, the turbulent Baltic Sea, the special light - for centuries, artists have found wonderful sources of inspiration in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the artists' colonies in Ahrenshoop, Schwaan or on the island of Hiddensee, unique works were created by influential artists. Many of these works are in private collections and are rarely or never presented in museums. At the Ahrenshoop Art Museum, we will be showing a large number of these paintings from North German artists' colonies in winter 2026/2027.
