Organ concert "750 years of St. Nikolai" with church music director Matthias Pech (Stralsund) - music from the Gothic period to the present day
St. Nikolai Church Stralsund is one of the most important brick churches in northern Germany and will celebrate its 750th anniversary in 2026. It is considered the main church of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund and demonstrates the wealth and importance of the city during the Hanseatic period. The high Gothic architecture, the ornate altars and the large Buchholz organ are particularly well known. The church is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar.
In keeping with the occasion, church music director Matthias Pech will play music from the Gothic period to the present day.
The concert is embedded in the symposium "Church in Motion" on the occasion of the 750th anniversary, which will feature interesting lectures and illustrious speakers.
