Following successful stops in Marlow and Franzburg, the traveling exhibition “The Blue Hour in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” is now making a stop in Bad Doberan. All art lovers are cordially invited to the festive opening on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Marlow-based artist Wolf Herondis (Wolfgang Hube) presents 36 large-format oil paintings depicting Mecklenburg-Vorpommern during that fascinating moment between day and night known as the “Blue Hour.” Cities, villages, coastlines, lakes, historic buildings, and natural landscapes are depicted in a light that allows viewers to experience the familiar in a new way. The series was created based on more than 100 photographs provided for the project by residents from all regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The focus of the opening reception is not only on the paintings themselves but also on the stories behind their creation. Wolf Herondis will provide insights into the development of the series, discuss his collaboration with the photographers, and explain why the Blue Hour has become a symbol of tranquility, connection, and home for him.
Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with the artist in person, ask questions about the individual works, and learn more about the cultural project, which is traveling through Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a traveling exhibition and celebrates the state’s scenic and cultural diversity.
