The musical opening of the exhibition will feature large-format portraits of 23 women from 13 countries. All of them were imprisoned at Ravensbrück. The opening will be attended by the Secretary-General of the International Ravensbrück Committee and the mayor.
Almost all of the photographs of the inmates date from the late 1940s and early 1950s and show the women in the context of a new, normal life after their ordeal in concentration camps. The portraits are accompanied by commentary from the daughters, a son, grandchildren, and friends of the women pictured. The texts are available in the exhibition brochures in German, English, French, Polish, and Russian, and visitors may take them home.
The exhibition will be on display in the windows of the Neubrandenburg Regional Library from September 8 to 30, 2026. The accompanying brochures are available free of charge in the library’s entrance area during the Regional Library’s opening hours.
The exhibition is a collaborative project between the Neubrandenburg Women’s Initiative, the City of Neubrandenburg (Vier-Tore-Stadt), the Ravensbrück Memorial Site, and the THW. It is financially supported by the State Agency for Political Education of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
