Diving trips to wreck finds on the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
For those divers who want to experience history up close on the seabed or gain an initial insight into underwater archaeology, members of the state association organize diving trips to the "open water museum". The waters off the approximately 1,700 km long coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern form a huge archive of settlement and maritime history. Numerous wars, disasters and storms have sent thousands of ships to the bottom of the sea. Almost 1,500 shipwrecks have been discovered so far and form a huge treasure trove to be explored.
In recent years, an attractive selection of shipwrecks suitable for diving has been made accessible coast-wide from this archive by the regional association. The different water depths and general conditions make for a varied offer. The challenges at the diving destinations vary greatly and generally require solid diving skills. The fascinating "open water museum" is open to all divers with a minimum qualification in "monument diving" or comparable diving experience. Similar to visiting historical ruins or collections on land, you will learn a lot of interesting facts about the sites, their discovery and the current state of research during the briefing. In addition to the diving profile and the historical background, you will also learn how to behave on site in a manner appropriate to the monument.
