Just how entertaining and relevant Bertolt Brecht’s texts remain today is demonstrated by Hedwig Golpon and Benjamin Saupe in their literary-musical program featuring excerpts from his works and Brecht’s well-known and lesser-known songs, including some from *The Threepenny Opera*.
Brecht’s texts—stimulating, powerful, thought-provoking, humorous, alarming, jarring, and satirical—resonate with us today more than ever. This remarkable evening was first presented in 2023 to mark the 125th birthday of the great poet and playwright. Since August 2026 marked the 70th anniversary of Brecht’s death, Golpon and Saupe revisited his words and expanded their program to include a few more passages and songs—because now more than ever: Brecht!
