On the road in Barlach's footsteps
"My living room" - that's what Ernst Barlach called the landscape around Güstrow. And that is exactly where this special cycle tour takes you: right into the heart of the world that inspired him.
The starting point is the Barlach sculpture at Güstrow Municipal Museum. From here, you follow in the artist's footsteps - through gently rolling meadows and fields, along the River Nebel, past tranquil moors, glistening ponds and venerable brick churches.
Just a stone's throw away is the heart of his creative work: the marshy meadows around the Ernst Barlach Museum Güstrow with the studio house - the place where Barlach lived, worked and collected new ideas for his dramas and sculptures on his walks.
The tour combines art and landscape in a special way: You discover the wide meadows and canals, visit the impressive Gertruden Chapel and finally reach Güstrow Cathedral. A moving highlight awaits you there: the famous "Floating Man" by Barlach - a moment that will stay with you.
Along the way, your tour guide will provide you with exciting insights and stories to create lively connections between art and nature. And to make sure you don't run out of energy on the way, there's a delicious packed lunch to keep you going. And a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in the "Grenzburg" are also on the program.
