the short film day at the Beguines
On the 4th Sunday of Advent (21.12.2025), the Beguines will open their doors as part of the nationwide short film celebration and offer a one-and-a-half-hour film program that honors female directors whose works (documentaries, fiction, animation, music and experimental films) fit this year's Short Film Day theme: NOW!
In the presence of Betty Koschka, an award-winning self-taught director from Rostock, who will present her film "Armadeira", the screenings will be followed by a discussion to provide an overview of the challenges facing the self-organized film scene in Rostock and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A scene to which she belongs as much as she helps to shape it.
For the selection of short films, the archives of the FiSH film festival will be combed through to find short films by FLINTA filmmakers whose films have been shown in the official competitions (German, Baltic Sea Region, PopFiSH) in recent years.
The idea behind this is to bring locally produced films into dialog with the archives of a Rostock film festival for young filmmakers in order to place the theme of JETZT! in a local feminist context.
