Songs from a Future Past With Tobias Thiele and Sylvia Bretschneider Directed by Alejandro Quintana Exhibition: Nothing Is Infinite by Volkmar Förster

When you really think about it, the current state of the world is, unfortunately, anything but heartening. And yet we started out with such hope for the future. How can people live together in peace, poetry, and joy? What beautiful things are we capable of? How rich is life when you love? How many dreams were there of a life beyond war and exploitation? What remains of that urge to make the world a little kinder and more peaceful? Perhaps, for a change, we can find a positive narrative of what it means to be human. It would be wonderful if we could treat one another with kindness in this world. We set out in search of poetry and a zest for life in the depths of history, and in the historic songs of old East German bands, we might even find a thing or two more.
