Joik Electronica and Soul

An evening of the finest club music! Urban electro joik and Estonia's soul princess with a power voice.

RETI Even as a teenager, Reti Niiman sang with an astonishing soul voice that she was able to turn into intense shouting. The pop singer Marju Kuut, who died a few years ago and was a key figure for soul fever in Estonia, described her at the time as having "exactly the right feeling and style in soul and jazz singing". With these talents, she was able to gain experience on stage early on. She performed at festivals such as Tallinn Music Week and Jazzkaar, where her explosive live presence was also praised as a "mix of Chaka Khan and Teena Marie". Their artistic direction was strongly influenced by the legendary collaboration between Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones. An influence that can also be felt on RETI's debut album Blue Hour, released in 2025.

In these songs, we embark on a party night that begins at dusk and ends with the first light of dawn. They deal with love, loneliness and self-discovery, and snapshots of RETI's life flicker up again and again. The whole thing sounds in sophisticated arrangements with a strong groove focus. "Blue Hour may sound like a record about love and heartbreak when you first hear it. But for me it conveys just as much despair, satire and self-criticism. You can listen through the album and imagine how RETI experiences a whole night with her clique," she describes the songs herself, and she continues: "Strong feelings can break out between the two blue hours of sunset and sunrise. Each individual song has its own emotions, but together they form a sonic landscape in which everyone can find something touching.
Since 2024, RETI has been signed to the Estonian Funk Embassy label, which has brought much joy to the Nordic sound with idolized acts such as Lexsoul Dancemachine, Rita Ray and Haldi. The concert in Greifswald is RETI's German debut. In July 2025, she performed at the first class London Jazz Café as a warm-up for disco icon Evelyn "Champagne" King (megahit: Shame).

Hildá Länsman is a singer, yoiker and musician from Ohcejohka, the northernmost part of Sápmi in Finland. She grew up in a family of reindeer herders and yoikers and dedicates her work to promoting and developing Sámi culture. Tuomas Norvio, a Finnish sound designer, composer and producer, weaves his complex electronic soundscapes, full of urban intensity and big city melancholy, with the spirit of Sámi identity - creating an artistic meeting point between Helsinki and the North.Together they create music that lives both in the past and in the future, between the tundra and the dance floor. Hildá Länsman and Tuomas Norvio's debut album "Dajan" was released in 2025 and is described by the duo themselves as a dialogue between tradition and technology, man and machine, earth and electricity. The concerts are described as energetic and surprising and contain elements of improvisation that create a sustained tension in a live situation. Alice Marie Jektevik frequently performs with the duo, mixing self-produced visual elements with sound signals and recordings made in collaboration with Hildá Länsman. The duo has performed at major Scandinavian festivals in 2025 and has been selected for the Womex, Bylarm and ENSN showcase festivals. We invite you to a concert that is both unexpectedly moving and irresistibly danceable.
