Forum 7-9.5.2026: Sustainability in Finnish culture, language and literature.
The cooperation network of Finnish teachers in German-speaking countries (SuoSa for short), in cooperation with the Finnish Institute in Germany and with financial support from the Finnish National Agency for Education (OPH), is organizing an information forum with a programme at the University of Greifswald from 7 to 9 May 2026, the theme of which is sustainability in its four dimensions (social, cultural, economic and ecological). Among other things, it is about how sustainability is reflected in Finnish culture, language (including language learning) and literature. The seminar consists of six workshops held by experts. All participants choose three workshops. The plenary speaker is sustainability expert Martha Hannus from the Åland Peace Institute. Inkeri Markkula, whose debut book Maa joka ei koskaan sula was published in German in autumn 2025 under the title Where the ice never melts, will be taking part as a writer.
