GIRLHOOD IS A PROMISE. ZIGAZIGAH.

Hardly any other pop cultural phenomenon shaped the 1990s and 2000s as much as girl bands: three to five young women, usually cast, carefully put together according to different types, marketed as a projection surface for desire, identification and empowerment. Between rebellion and mass appeal, they negotiated sisterhood, body images, social advancement and the question of who is allowed to be on the big stage at all. But the glamour often concealed exploitative structures, standardized role models and the power relations of an industry that swallowed up the collective just as quickly as it had staged it.

NO SCRIBES take up these dynamics - and turn them around. Taking the legendary groups Destiny's Child, Tic Tac Toe and the Spice Girls as a starting point, they explore identities and (pop) feminism. Under the undeniable influence of manager Lena Brasch, a three-part text between homage and criticism, theory and dance floor, megaphone and diary is created.

Band bio
From the desk to the charts: the rise of the literary girl band NO SCRIBES has been meteoric. The writers Paula Fürstenberg (Grumpy Scribe, solo book "Weltalltage", star sign Aries), Raphaëlle Red (Riot Scribe, solo book "Adikou", star sign Taurus) and Alisha Gamisch (Dreamy Scribe, solo book "Lustdorf", star sign Aquarius) are united by a passion for reading and writing and for Dolly Parton's all-time hit "Jolene". Together they are NO SCRIBES, the literary answer to the girl bands of their teenage years - and to loneliness.
