The "Niederdeutsche Bühne Rostock" was founded in 1920 and has been an integral part of North German theater culture ever since. Since the first performance of the acclaimed drama "Bahnmeester Dod" by Karl Boßdorf, the ensemble has staged countless dialect plays. In the meantime, more than 100 years of enjoyment of the Low German language have come together, which has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO since 2014.
