For the double concert, the Nico Cleemann Trio and the Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra, two versatile formations from the North German jazz scene, will be coming together
A special connection exists through the Rostock pianist Nico Cleemann, who not only performs with his trio, but is also a member of the Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra.
The Nico Cleemann Trio consists of the Rostock jazz pianist Nico Cleemann, the bassist Andreas Böhm and the Chemnitz drummer Toni Müller. The focus is on original compositions that are stylistically anchored in fusion jazz. Concise melodies meet exciting harmonies, catchy grooves and extended improvisations. The result is a varied concert program that combines musical sophistication with spontaneous joy of playing and energetic interaction.
The Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2008 by 20 young jazz enthusiasts from Wismar and the surrounding area. The big band is dedicated to the entire spectrum of big band jazz and plays works by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bob Mintzer and Pat Metheny, among others. The program is complemented by modern vocal tracks as well as pieces from outside the classic big band repertoire and original compositions. With its musical diversity and palpable joy of playing, the ensemble delights both experienced jazz listeners and newcomers alike.
