The Armenian-born pianist Lilit Grigoryan has established herself as a permanent fixture in the European music scene in recent years. Maria João Pires describes her as a musician who is characterized by her enormous expressiveness and a clear, decisive musical language.
In February 2025, her new album "Sonata Facile" will be released on the Berlin Classics label, marking the start of an exclusive collaboration. Lilit Grigoryan presents a collection of sonatinas and "light" sonatas. But the title is deceptive: the six works by composers such as Mozart, Ravel, Beethoven and Medtner prove to be musically profound and technically demanding.
Highlights of the 2024 season included her debut at the Berlin Philharmonie, a concert with the Hamburg Camerata at the Elbphilharmonie and a celebrated tour of China. At the invitation of the renowned conductor Alondra de la Parra, she performed at the PAAX GNP festival in Mexico and was once again a guest at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Krzyzowa Music Festival. Her solo and chamber music projects have taken her all over Europe, where she has performed with artists such as Viviane Hagner and Daniel Müller-Schott.
Lilit Grigoryan has already performed on the world's most renowned stages. These include concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Konzerthaus
Berlin, the Philharmonie Essen, the Gasteig Munich, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the BOZAR in Brussels, the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
The artist has also performed at major festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Verbier Festival.
Lilit Grigoryan has already released several highly acclaimed albums in recent years. Her album Variations sérieuses (Orchid Classics, 2018) with works by Bach-Busoni, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bizet and Szymanowski was internationally acclaimed. In 2021, her recording of Frederic Mompou's Música callada was released by Orchid Classics and was recognized by Apple Music as one of the best recordings of the year.
Lilit Grigoryan studied with Sergei Sarajyan and Matthias Kirschnereit. From 2012 to 2016, she was Artist in Residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Belgium, where she was mentored by Maria
João Pires - an artistic connection that continues to this day.
The pianist was awarded the prestigious Culture Prize of the Armenian President and has been a Yamaha Artist since April 2023.
Lilit Grigoryan is currently a lecturer and artistic assistant at the Rostock University of Music and Drama. She is also passionate about passing on her experience to young musicians at the Young Academy Rostock.
