Festive start to the year with the Schwerin Brass Ensemble
The Strelitzer Land parish cordially invites you to the traditional New Year's concert on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the Neustrelitz town church. As every year, the renowned Schwerin Brass Ensemble will open the musical start of the year. The ensemble of ten professional musicians, who work in orchestras in Schwerin and Lübeck, will present a festive program full of tonal variety.
Under the motto "From the Magic Flute to the Magic Wand: A journey through the magic of music", a musical journey unfolds with special references to Neustrelitz. The overture to Mozart's "Magic Flute" and the concert overture by August Klughardt, who worked as court conductor in Neustrelitz from 1869 to 1873, will be performed. The evening blessing and the pantomime from "Hansel and Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck, who died in Neustrelitz in 1921, will also be performed. Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" offers a contrasting highlight, before film music from "Harry Potter" transports the audience to modern worlds of sound.
Admission is free; a donation for church music is requested at the exit.
