In cooperation with the Müritz National Park, we are showing the winners of the German Nature Film Award 2025

Japan's Snow Monkeys (Director: Kosuke Hayashi) - Audience Award

The captivating new documentary "Japan's Snow Monkeys" takes the audience on an extraordinary journey to the Kamikochi Valley in the heart of the Japanese Alps, where the resilient Japanese macaques, also known as snow monkeys, brave extreme conditions to survive and thrive. Hardly any other primate species can withstand colder temperatures.

Wild Dream Islands - The Seychelles (Directors: Thomas Behrend, Martina Andres, Manuel Spescha) - Jury Prize Camera

They are dream islands in the Indian Ocean and natural treasures of superlatives: Mauritius, La Réunion and the Seychelles. The sea is the nursery of sperm whales; sharks sleep in caves surrounded by waves and bizarre mudskippers hunt crabs between mangrove roots. The islands also have sensational things to offer on land: The largest plant seed, the coco de mer, is guarded like the crown jewels in the Seychelles. On Bird Island, a small island at the northern tip of the Seychelles archipelago, millions of sooty terns raise their young. Elsewhere, ancient Aldabra giant tortoises wander through the undergrowth. But the pressure on the islands' animals and plants is increasing: many native species are on the brink of extinction. Can the fragile nature of the dream islands be saved?

Together with the Müritz National Park, the Müritzeum invites you to the last cinema evening of the special nature film series. Between November 2025 and January 2026, the award-winning films from the renowned Darß Nature Film Festival 2025 were shown in the Müritzeum cinema on four evenings. The films offer fascinating insights into local nature and diverse habitats around the world and deal with current nature conservation issues. The film series aims to create a sustainable understanding of the global interrelationships of our planet and encourage an in-depth examination of current environmental issues. With this event, the German Nature Film Foundation and the umbrella organization National Natural Landscapes e. V. are bringing the German Nature Film Award 2025 beyond the traditional venue of the Darß to the national parks for the first time.

The film screening starts at 7 pm. Admission is free, donations are requested. Drinks will be available.

Curtain up for nature!
