The fascinating world of marine giants
When the sun sets over the Bodden, harbors and Baltic Sea, the time for nature films in the open air and special encounters begins on Fischland-Darß-Zingst. The Nature Film Nights give a foretaste of the 22nd Darß Nature Film Festival, which will take place on the Baltic Sea peninsula from October 6 to 11, 2026.
Film: "Among humpback whales - On the trail of their language"
The songs of humpback whales have puzzled researchers for decades: Their loud, complex calls spread out underwater over hundreds of kilometers - but what is behind them? Christina Karliczek Skoglund dives right into the fascinating world of the marine giants. She encounters fighting male humpback whales, strong mothers and curious calves and meets female scientists who want to decipher the "whale code" using modern research and AI. A visually stunning film full of emotion and an appeal to listen to the voices of the whales and protect the animals.

Short film: "Save The Fear For Later "
accompanies freediver Anna von Boetticher as she explores the hidden world under the ice of Greenland. She tests the limits of human endurance and is known for her extreme ice dives and explorations of the deep sea. Filmmaker Alexander Benedik met Anna during a winter expedition in the Arctic.
