Sometimes it doesn’t take 120 minutes to tell a great story. Sometimes just a few moments are enough to move you, inspire reflection, or change your perspective on the world.
On Saturday, November 21, 2026, we cordially invite you to DeveLUP—Zukunftszentrum Ludwigslust—for the retrospective screening of the Short Film Night from the 35th FILMKUNSTFEST MV.
A real hidden gem for film enthusiasts! Anyone who couldn’t make it to the FILMKUNSTFEST MV in Schwerin will have a special opportunity in Ludwigslust to catch a bit of that festival atmosphere. And even for die-hard festival fans, it’s well worth the visit: The Short Film Night has long enjoyed cult status and is considered one of the festival’s most sought-after events. That’s because it showcases cinematic gems—both big and small—that can be discovered outside the official short film competition. An exclusive film experience you won’t want to miss!
14 short films, two program blocks, and plenty to talk about! From impressive documentaries to creative animations and heartwarming dialogues, the audience can expect a diverse journey through the world of short film. Sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes surprising, and sometimes with a touch of humor. But all the films have one thing in common: they tell stories that move you and are worth talking about.
A special guest of the evening is director Carsten Degenhardt, who took second place with his film “Prolog der Finsternis.” He’ll offer fascinating insights into the making and background of his work and present the accompanying book, which he’s already offering for staged readings at schools.
Together with the Ludwigslust-Parchim District Adult Education Center, we’d like to show just how vibrant cultural and political adult education can be. After all, film is far more than just entertainment. It opens up new perspectives, challenges the status quo, and invites us to look beyond our own horizons.
Pianist Leopold Sommer will provide the perfect musical atmosphere with a charming mix of film, jazz, and soul music. Oliver Hübner, blogger, author, and host, will guide the audience through the evening. Jörn Wille (1K-VA – Event Service Cinema) is responsible for the curatorial design. Die Dekorei will provide refreshments.
And, incidentally, anticipation is already building for the next FILMKUNSTFEST MV in Schwerin during the first week of May 2027. A wonderful preview of what the art of film has in store for us next year!
