SUMMER CONCERT WITH DUO VIMARIS - preceded by an exciting organ tour
The Protestant parish of Neustadt-Glewe invites you to a summer concert with fiery, passionate Italian Baroque music in the town church of St. Marien on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 5 pm.
The duo Vimaris, Mirjam and Wieland Meinhold from Weimar in Thuringia, will perform "Musica italiana", including sonatas, arias, canzonas, toccatas and concerti by Corelli, Torelli, Geminiani, Gentili, Pergolesi, Scarlatti and Marcello. Of course, the crowning finale will be the prominent Antonio Vivaldi! The enthusiasm for Italy in Germany during the Baroque period not only led to an unparalleled boom in painting and architecture, but above all in sacred and courtly music. Italy was "in". When listening to such lively art, this quickly becomes plausible. The two interpreters have also performed thematic programs in other European countries. Radio and television recordings as well as CD productions round off their activities. Mirjam Meinhold is a soprano at the German National Theatre in Weimar, Wieland Meinhold is currently a university organist in Erfurt/Weimar. A heartfelt donation is requested at the exit after the concert.
Beforehand, at 4:15 p.m., an organ tour of the historic Mehmel organ under the motto "Klangmajestät - Besuch bei der Königin" will take the curious directly to the console: For anyone interested in the organ, Weimar University organist Dr. W. Meinhold will explain the "Queen of Instruments" up close. This gives you the opportunity to find out what the highest and lowest notes sound like. How many pipes are there in the instrument? How does the transmission between key and valve work? How heavy is an organ like this? These entertaining organ tours captivate visitors time and time again.
