Guided tour of the "Blue Tooth Treasure"/ silver treasure find from Schaprode, a copy of which enriches the permanent exhibition.
Museum director Marika Emonds leads a tour of the exhibition featuring high-quality replicas of the so-called “Blauzahn Treasure.”
The early medieval silver hoard, discovered in 2018 near Schaprode on Rügen, captivates visitors with its collection of Oriental, Western European, and English coins, as well as impressive pieces of jewelry. Of particular interest are the coins minted by the Danish King Harald Blue Tooth (reigned 958–986), which gave the hoard its popular name: the “Blue Tooth Treasure.”
The guided tour will also address the question of why many of the precious silver objects were deliberately smashed and hacked to pieces.
The replicas on display represent a representative selection from the original collection.
