We’re once again inviting you to our annual museum festival at the phanTECHNIKUM! Whether indoors or in the museum courtyard, the day combines music, fun, and hands-on activities with insights into crafts and technology.
The museum festival at the phanTECHNIKUM is dedicated above all to the people of Wismar: our regular visitors, anyone who’s curious, neighbors, and people of all ages. We want to emphasize this strong connection and showcase the diversity of local crafts, businesses, and technologies. Joining us this year:
Peter Kast from the Engineering Office for Cartography will, as a cartographer, offer insights into his profession, set out topographic puzzles for visitors to try, and sell regional maps, postcards, and puzzles at fair prices.
Konstanze Wodsak from the Tonhalle Wismar will demonstrate pottery on the potter’s wheel and offer her works for sale.
The local DJ collective from Bash Boutique will provide musical entertainment throughout the day.
At 11 a.m. , Jürgen Schiesser, a Wismar collector and bicycle restorer, will also lead a tour of our bicycle exhibition. He’ll explain the mechanics, share stories about the region’s cycling history, and—drawing on his own experience—show how to get old bikes running again!
In the museum lab, demonstrations on the topic of fire take place at regular intervals: With explosive effects and experiments, we’ll show just how much power lies within flames. Even adults will learn something new. In addition, guided tours will take visitors through the history of flight, all the way to modern space travel. To wrap things up, we explain how a rocket engine works, and in the museum courtyard, visitors can launch their own rockets.
The Bubble Kicker Arena keeps everyone active. Depending on the weather, games are played outdoors or in the air hall: Players slip into large, inflatable balls and compete in soccer matches as teams—fun for young and old alike!
Refreshments—ranging from coffee and cake to savory snacks and beer —will be available all day.
