Lecture: "Carved front doors from the time of sailing ships" with René Roloff from the Roloff cabinetmaking workshop in Prerow
In the 18th century, the finely crafted Darß doors were intended to show the wealth of the house owners. Today, they stand for a connection with the homeland and a sense of tradition. The Roloff brothers are the sixth generation to carve Darß doors. Ancient, pagan and magical symbols live on in the motifs to this day. The special thing about the carpentry workshop on the Darß is that so much is still done by hand instead of using machines. René Roloff talks about work and tradition on this evening.
