Every year one of the biggest open water swims in Germany, the MÜRITZSCHWIMMEN, takes place in Waren an der Müritz. Traditionally, there is the opportunity to swim the largest inland lake in Germany, the Müritz, over 1950 m on the first weekend in August. Since 2017, there is even a double Müritz crossing over 3.8 km "The Müritzman 3.8", for experienced open water swimmers.
In 2023, the Müritz Swim will take place for the 54th time.
After the adult swim, the children's swim over approx. 400m takes place in the public pool in the health spa Waren (Müritz) for children from 7 - 12 years.
