Experience the Peene and the peat bogs at a time when the animals of the night are active, the sun disappears late behind the horizon and the moonlight illuminates the landscape Registration. Tel.: 0385 588 648-30, 15 € p. p.
Shortly after midsummer, the nights in Mecklenburg Schweiz and Lake Kummerow Nature Park don't get really dark. The sun doesn't set until 9:44 pm and the twilight lasts all night. Dawn sets in again before 4 a.m., so the night is only short. The almost full moon illuminating the sky is particularly impressive during this time.
During this magical time, the nature park invites you to an atmospheric canoe tour on the Peene and through the peat bogs near Malchin on Friday, June 26. The landscape reveals itself in a mysterious twilight, while the sounds of the day slowly fade and the nocturnal animals begin to make their voices heard. With a bit of luck, you may even spot beavers that become active at dusk. A ranger from the nature park accompanies the tour and provides exciting insights into the life of beavers and otters, the birdlife along the water, the special features of the river and moorland landscape of the Peene and the many facets of the nature park.
The meeting point for the tour is on Friday, June 26 at 8 p.m. in Malchin at the "Kösters Eck" canoe club (Am Kanal 2, 17139 Malchin). It is recommended that you wear clothing suitable for the weather.
As the number of participants is limited, please register in advance at the nature park by calling 0385 588 64 830 or sending an e-mail to info-msk@lung.mv-regierung.de. When registering, please also indicate whether you are taking part as a family so that the boat allocation can be planned optimally.
There is a charge of 15 euros per participant for the use of the boats.
