Reading and discussion with Stefan Hertman's "Dius", moderated by Volker Mischok, cathedral preacher emeritus.
The new book "Dius" by Stefan Hertmans will be published by Diogenes Verlag on October 22, 2025.
When Dius rings his doorbell, Anton is surprised and irritated. None of his students at the art academy have ever pried so freely into his private life. Or even offered him his friendship and a place to write in an old village house in the middle of a rugged Nordic landscape. Alternating between concentrated work and long walks, an almost old-fashioned bond of friendship develops between the two men, while their respective lives at home continue to unfold, not without complications.
Stefan Hertmans, born in 1951 in Ghent, Belgium, is a poet, playwright and novelist and is considered one of the most important contemporary Dutch-language authors. His work has received numerous awards. The novel 'War and Turpentine' was nominated for the International Man Booker Prize and the Premio Strega International in 2016, among others. Hertmans lives in Brussels and Monieux in the south of France.
