Reading with actor Sebastian Reck on the 125th birthday of Rose Ausländer
We would like to commemorate the important German-Jewish poet Rose Ausländer as part of our "Mondays at littera et cetera" event series.
Rose Ausländer, born in 1901 in Czernowitz/Bukovina, survived the years 1941-44 in Czernowitz in the ghetto and in a cellar hiding place. She emigrated to the USA in 1946 and moved to Germany in 1965. She believed that writing was possible even after the Shoah and worked: Her oeuvre comprises 3000 poems.
To our great delight, the wonderful actor Sebastian Reck will read a selection of Rose Ausländer's poems.
Sebastian Reck, actor at the Mecklenburg State Theater, born in Stuttgart in 1971, completed his acting training at the Elisabethbühne Salzburg, where he subsequently joined the ensemble. After stints at the Vogtlandtheater Plauen, the Landesbühne Schleswig-Holstein and Theater Lübeck, engagements at Theater Bielefeld and Magdeburg followed. Since the start of the 2017/2018 season, he has been part of the acting ensemble at the Mecklenburg State Theatre and can be seen in brilliant roles.
