The estate had been owned by the Oldenburg family since the 15th century and J. F. Boldt was named as the owner from 1786.
He had the manor house built between 1792 and 1794 according to plans by master builder Johann Friedrich Busch. Stones from the demolished east wing of Güstrow Castle are said to have been used for the construction. In 1819, Baron Cornelius von Herzeele acquired the estate at an auction of the entire estate inventory, including livestock.
