The Alte Direktion is the former directorate building of the Friedrich-Franz-Eisenbahn from 1864. The listed building stands for the early railroad history of Mecklenburg and for a time of profound technical and social change.
After almost 20 years of vacancy and increasing decay, the building is currently being extensively renovated. The hourly tours provide an insight into the current status of the work, conservation issues and the planned future of the building. It is planned to use the building as a hotel and rooms for events.
