From Roof Shingle to Work of Art
Over the past few months, the Red Pavilion has been given a new roof.
Several of the old roof’s wooden shingles—some of which were rotten and covered in moss—were salvaged. Artists from the Kunstverein and other visual artists associated with the Red Pavilion have given them a new lease on life—as works of art. The artists’ styles are as diverse as their works: painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. All created with and on wooden shingles.
Under the title “METAMORPHOSIS—From Roof Shingle to Work of Art,” they will be on display at the Red Pavilion from October 10 to December 12, 2026. The exhibition is open Wed–Sat from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; admission is free.
