The Vilsmaier film about the Comedian Harmonists or the huge success of the Wise Guys was still a long way off when the ensemble Schall & Rauch first came together in Berlin in the early ’90s to devote themselves to sophisticated a cappella singing. What began as a bit of fun has since become an integral part of Berlin’s vocal music scene, enchanting audiences at small venues and private parties alike. With a cheeky, humorous, and not always entirely serious approach, the five singers tackle anything that can be brought to the stage through beautiful singing. The icing on the cake of a Schall & Rauch concert is a humorous presentation that hints at many things without giving anything away, mixed with original compositions on current and timeless themes, performed with harmonious polyphonic vocals and tongue-in-cheek passion. The quintet’s role models are the King’s Singers and the Comedian Harmonists, from whom many a musical treat is included in the program. Five-part a cappella versions of the great Beatles hits are also a staple of their repertoire and are humorously parodied. In addition, they perform German pop classics and evergreens from pop, swing, and musicals. Schall & Rauch always deliver the finest a cappella music, lively hosting, and plenty of fun!
The quintet will perform on August 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. during the church service at the Schlosskirche in Putbus. On the same day, the singers will give a concert at 5:00 p.m. in the Schlosskirche. Admission is free; the singers welcome donations.
