Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester will present a new concert program in 2027!
Max Raabe & Palast Orchester are surprisingly direct about their new program: “Come on over”! That’s the title of their new 2027/28 tour. This invitation is meant to be deeply compassionate, as the chorus of the title song reveals: Come on over / Sit down next to me / Don’t be so sad / It’s good that you’re here. In general, the concert audience is noticeably taken by the hand. Familiar songs like “Guten Tag, liebes Glück” or “Küssen kann man nicht alleine” are complemented by new compositions, such as “Bekloppt”—a humorous description of the pitfalls of the internet. The new Raabe-pop blends seamlessly into the repertoire that Max Raabe & Palast Orchester have always been known for: the music of the 1920s and 1930s. Classics like “Heute Nacht oder nie” and “Dort tanzt Lulu” still find their way straight into the hearts of listeners, even in the modern world. In addition, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester open the door to rhythms and timbres from a wide variety of cultural traditions. Cuban rumba is accompanied by claves, maracas, and a donkey’s bit; the Spanish paso doble is accented by castanets; and in the Bavarian waltz, the accordion and tuba unfold their characteristic charm—carried by the virtuoso multi-instrumentalists and solo violinist Cecilia Crisafulli. With subtle irony and dry humor, Max Raabe guides the audience through the evening with his usual elegance. The poster promoting the tour in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland fits this program perfectly: Max Raabe stands under an umbrella—flanked by two distinctive alpacas—on the runway of Berlin’s former Tempelhof Airport. What else?
