Ms. Leonhardt attempts a reflection on the ecological and social state of the earth and appeals to our responsibility for the next generations.
After a long professional life as a secretary, she moved in 1997 from the densely populated Ruhr area to Klein Görnow, near Sternberg, in the vast and unspoiled landscape of Mecklenburg. Finally she could devote herself to her real interest, the artistic creation.
The pictures are characterized by great joy of experimentation. She uses both natural materials such as sand, gravel and wood chips; as painting surfaces besides canvas also remnants of textured wallpaper or cardboard.
Through her use of color and form, she attempts to draw attention to a reflection on the real and catastrophic, ecological and social state of the earth. She appeals to the responsibility for ONE WORLD, for the preservation of nature and the environment, which ensures the existential basis for the survival of mankind, with the claim to leave a livable perspective for the next generations.
Ms. Leonhardt's pictures are a plea for reason, against economic and military power.
