In her solo program, Mareille Merck (*1996) explores the endless possibilities of the guitar. She uses the freedom of solo playing to break down stylistic boundaries. For example, she combines fingerstyle techniques with typical jazz elements. She captivates with her innovative, independent approach to the instrument, explores versatile sound facets with great attention to detail and breathes life into the catchy melodies of her compositions with harmonics, open, sometimes unusually tuned strings or her idiosyncratic use of the tremolo lever. Technical skills are by no means an end in themselves - the focus is always on the core of the musical statement, which Mareille shapes with her unmistakable sound and spins around with tonal variety and precision.
Merck's solo album "Kaleidoskop", which she produced together with Nik Bärtsch, was released on September 5, 2025, followed by numerous press reviews, including the "Record of the Month" award in Gitarre & Bass magazine, "Audiophile Album of the Month" in Audio Stereoplay magazine and 5/5 stars in Jazzthetik magazine. The release tour took Merck to Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Denmark.
"Her playing is sometimes mysterious, but can also provide a lot of dynamics with concise lines and sometimes crashing chords. After a few tracks, you recognize her very own musical, guitaristic language, her fine sensitivity in terms of dynamics and tone formation, her groove." Jazzthetik 09/10-2025, Lothar Trampert
Tickets are available at the Stralsund Tourist Office, online via Reservix and at the box office.
