1st regional group meeting of taxidermists north-east in the Müritzeum
Taxidermists are in demand. Not many museums have their own in-house taxidermists and yet they are indispensable for the exhibitions, especially the natural history ones. The tasks involved in taxidermy are varied and complex. In the German Society for Taxidermy (DGP), members regularly exchange information on this subject. From 08.05. 2026 -10.05. 2026 the regional group "Nord Ost" will now meet for the first regional group meeting in the Müritzeum. Our taxidermist, Giulia Bianconi, has international connections and has put together an interesting program with her colleagues from the regional group. Guests from faraway places are therefore also expected, as such an exchange of expertise is in demand.
Further information on the meeting can be found on the DGP website.
Incidentally, one of the last prepared works by Giulia Bianconi can be seen in our current special exhibition "Of Art & Nature": An oriole. Come along and find out a little more about this exciting profession in the exhibition, because a taxidermist is an artist, craftsman and scientist.
