Eight artists from several European countries are showing works in Lübz about identity, change and shared perspectives.
For a few weeks in August, the Kunsthaus Lübz will become a meeting place for European artists. Eight artists from different countries will come together in the town, work on site and show their works in the exhibition "Treffpunkt International".
The idea came from Claudia Maria Ammann, who lives in Mecklenburg and has been cultivating international contacts for years. For the project, she invited artists who now live and work in different European countries. Some have left their homeland, others commute between several places. The experiences they bring to their work are correspondingly diverse.
On display are sculptures, photographs, installations, paintings as well as video and light art. This is not about a common stylistic program. Rather, very different points of view come together. Some works were even created during the stay in Lübz and respond to the surroundings, the people and the conversations on site.
The fact that such an exhibition is taking place in Lübz is not a matter of course. In the middle of a town center that, like many small towns, is struggling with vacancies, the Kunsthaus has developed into a place where people regularly come together. Exhibitions, workshops and events bring visitors to the city and ensure that the rooms in Kirchenstraße are not empty, but are used.
The vernissage on August 14 offers the opportunity to get to know the participating artists and gain an insight into a project that combines European experiences and local encounters.
