LOLLIPOP is an expression of musical joie de vivre and a way of life that leaves the past behind and combines curiosity with new ways of living; a symbiosis of a philosophy of life and music that stood—and still stands—for a fresh start and a new beginning.

Rock ’n’ roll, the most popular music in the U.S. during the 1950s and 1960s, quickly spread to Europe and captivated the rebellious youth, who were hungry for entertainment. Wearing petticoats or sporting greased quiffs, people enjoyed the hard beat in 4/4 time, which was so different from the rhythms they had been used to.

No one wanted to be left behind. The fashion industry took the lead and pulled other industries along with it. The “Lolli” was born—a term still used today. Dance clubs sprang up, and this new rhythm—whether in a nightclub or a dance bar—captured the hearts of millions.

In the concert LOLLIPOP, five talented musicians, playing with boundless enthusiasm, bring to life not only the hits of Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and Chuck Berry, but also German-language classics by Peter Kraus, Gus Backus, Drafi Deutscher, and Connie Francis. The magic of these sizzling rhythms spills over even to the back row of the theater.
