Meetings, Discussions, and Networking for Local History Collectors and Researchers
The presentations in the conference program showcase research findings and sources from Northwest Mecklenburg.
Historian Lukas Augustat will speak about crimes committed against the children of forced-laborers in Maurinmühle near Carlow. Dr. Florian Ostrop will address another topic from the Nazi era: the systematic persecution of gay men in Wismar and the surrounding area beginning in 1938. Falko Hohensee from Bad Kleinen will examine the Wallenstein Trench and the myths, facts, and visions associated with it. Torsten Hauck and Johannes Benjamin Vonderschmidt will present regional aerial photograph collections, digitized newspapers, and other informative sources for work on a local history.
During the conference, participants will also have the opportunity to present their own findings and exchange ideas with others about progress and challenges in collecting, sorting, and analyzing source material.
