Amrum is a coming-of-age drama by Fatih Akin, based on the childhood memories of Hark Bohm and set in the spring of 1945. Twelve-year-old Nanning lives with his family on the North Sea island after fleeing Hamburg. His mother is a staunch National Socialist who falls into a deep depression after Hitler's suicide. In order to help her and fulfill her wish for a piece of white bread with butter and honey, Nanning embarks on an adventurous search across the island and learns a lot about the people and moral conflicts of the time.
