“Who’s riding to Bethlehem so late?” – The Conow Theater Group presents a humorous Christmas reading featuring modern dialogue and plenty of wit. November 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Conow Rectory. Free admission! Followed by an Advent coffee reception.
When Mary and Joseph set out for Bethlehem, you can expect quite a bit! Because in the humorous Christmas story “Who’s Riding to Bethlehem So Late?”, not everything goes the way we know it from the Bible. As they do every year, Mary and Joseph set out from Nazareth for Bethlehem shortly before the birth of their first child. Along the way, they encounter an innkeeper, a soldier, shepherds, an angel, and the Magi. But these encounters are quite something: With modern dialogue, a decidedly feisty Mary, and allusions to current issues of our time, Kay Stehr of the Conow Theater Group has retold the traditional Christmas story in a way all his own.
On Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., this extraordinary Christmas story will be presented at the rectory in Conow. Visitors can look forward to an entertaining live audio play, in which eight readers—with great enthusiasm, sharp dialogue, and a healthy dose of humor—will ensure a wonderful time.
Admission is free! Following the reading, the Conow Theater Group invites you to an Advent coffee reception. There will be plenty of time for cozy conversations and personal encounters with the performers.
