Research on the 86 victims of a Nazi scientific crime
In August 1943, 86 Jewish men and women were murdered.
Their names should disappear. Today they are becoming visible again.
Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Lang (University of Tübingen) researches and teaches with a focus on: Culture of remembrance, Jewish lifeworlds in the past and present and Shoah in biographical close-ups.
He describes his academic profile as follows: "My research and teaching relates to Jewish lifeworlds in the past and present. Within this general horizon, the Shoah is a prominent, but not the only, focus of my interests. The respective fields of research - including medicine in particular - are explored by means of biographical close-ups and placed in the political and social contexts. I see the vivid communication of scientific findings to a wider audience, be it through lectures or publications, as an important aspect of my work." (Source: Website, University of Tübingen)
