A literary and musical journey through the Bohemian spa triangle

Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně - the three West Bohemian spa towns have been international meeting places for writers, musicians and personalities from the worlds of art and politics for centuries. Goethe fell in love here one last time, Kafka sought relaxation, Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach took a cure between the colonnades. On the Czech side, Božena Němcová and Karel Čapek took their own unique look at the sophisticated hustle and bustle.
Author Roswitha Schieb and actor Ecco Mylla take the audience on a journey of discovery through this charming region, where the cultural flair of bygone times is being revived today with new impulses. Alternating between illustrated lectures, readings and literary quotations, a portrait is created of a spa landscape that partly fell into disrepair after the Second World War and partly became new artistic meeting places.
The evening will be accompanied by a musical program that evokes the Bohemian world of sound: Anna Subotiak (piano) and Andrii Kordon (violin) from the Rostock University of Music and Drama will play works by Bedřich Smetana(Bagatelles et Impromptus), Antonín Dvořák(Two Slavonic Dances, Humoreska) and Bohuslav Martinů(7 Arabesques for violin and piano).
Vera Schneider from the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe will introduce the evening.
About the performers
Roswitha Schieb has published numerous literary and cultural-historical travel books, including the literary travel guide Breslau and Jeder zweite Berliner. Silesian Traces on the Spree. Her literary travel guide Böhmisches Bäderdreieck (Bohemian Spa Triangle ) is published by the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe in a second, updated edition (361 p., €19.80, ISBN 978-3-936168-86-0).
Ecco Mylla works as an actor, speaker and presenter in Berlin - with stints at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Heimathafen Neukölln and Staatstheater Wiesbaden, as well as appearances in the Udo Lindenberg musical Hinterm Horizont and roles in Tatort and SOKO Wismar.
Admission price for residents of the Baltic health spa Graal-Müritz & guest card holders: €12 per person.
Note: Persons who are neither residents of the Baltic health spa Graal-Müritz nor in possession of a guest card are obliged to pay a daily visitor's tax in addition to the admission price.
