Hydra, 1960: Young Leonard has come to the island to fulfill a dream: to become a famous writer. Then he meets Marianne and her husband Axel and witnesses Axel's violent behavior.
When the marriage breaks down, Leonard takes care of the deeply wounded Marianne and the two fall in love. After his novel is torn apart by the critics, Leonard falls into a depression. Now it is up to Marianne to save him: she gives him a guitar and he soon celebrates his first successes. But can Marianne lead a life alongside a world star - and will their love survive Leonard's highs?
