But the magic of the island of Hiddensee works its magic, and Asta spends carefree summer days full of lightness. When she gets into distress on a boat trip, Kai, one of the fishermen, comes to her rescue. The two fall in love, but one day high Nazi officials summon Asta to Berlin and make her an offer. She makes a decision that will change her life forever - and her love for Kai.
