Hannah runs a boarding house for sick and weakening plants and sacrifices herself completely for them. She has the feeling that she has no place in this world herself. Until the day her good friend and customer Elsa bequeaths her the key to a garden on the other side of the city shortly before her own death. Hannah is to plant an offshoot of her own tree there, to which she has paid far too little attention in the past. Upon entering the garden, a profound, exciting journey into her own self begins, during which Hannah realizes more and more that there is indeed a place for her in this world where she can put down roots.
