Wind quintet OPUS 45 and actor Roman Knižka are guests at Solitär Parchim. Admission is free!
With their literary concert "Deutschland, siehst du das nicht?" they combine music and texts from the late Weimar Republic. Works by Hanns Eisler, Kurt Weill, Erwin Schulhoff, Jean Françaix, Paul Juon, as well as swing and pop songs by Cole Porter or the Comedian Harmonists meet texts by Kurt Tucholsky, Erich Kästner, Mascha Kaléko, Victor Klemperer, Sebastian Haffner and Dorothy Thompson, among others. Together they trace the development from the cultural upheavals of the 1920s to the Nazi takeover.
At the heart of the program is a question that is still relevant today: What lessons can we learn from the failure of the first German democracy?
The event is part of the series of events organized by the Wöbbelin Memorials to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Wöbbelin concentration camp on 2 May 1945. It is sponsored by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Agency for Civic Education.
