Few formations in German music history can build on such a loyal fan base as the band LIFT, founded in Dresden in 1973. The musicians of LIFT know how to combine melodic rock and lyrical lyrics in a way that can only be found with a few bands in Germany. In their studio productions and above all in their live performances, you can feel the power of a music that has matured over the years and has lost none of its dynamism. In the first seven years of their existence, the albums "LIFT" and "Meeresfahrt" were produced. Songs such as "Wasser und Wein", "Abendstunde", "Nach Süden", "Meeresfahrt" and "Tagesreise" are still an integral part of LIFT's performances today. The year 1978 was a dark one in the band's history, when band founder Gerhard Zachar and singer Henry Pacholski died in an accident on a tour of Poland.
The song "Am Abend mancher Tage", which became the hit of the year in the GDR in 1980 and was also featured on the album "Spiegelbild" released in 1981, was written as a result. In 2019, LIFT launched a church program under the name "Am Abend mancher Tage" together with former singers of the Dresdner Kreuzchor.
The band currently plays in the line-up
Werther Lohse ( voc )
Andreas Leuschner ( keyb, voc )
Markus Christ ( drums )
Jacob Müller ( bg, cello )
The former Kreuzchor singers Alexander Rau Moritz Schlenstedt Lucas Reis Elias Riemenschneider occasionally take part. From 2023, the band can also be heard again together with the Stern-Combo Meissen and Karussell as the "Sachsendreier".
In 2023, the band celebrated its 50th stage anniversary with a concert in Dresden's Frauenkirche.
