Letters to Ukraine and Poems

The author, who has been awarded the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding, the Hannah Arendt Prize for Political Thought, the Goethe Medal, and the International Stefan Heym Prize, began his career as a young poet. Some of his works were written during the Soviet era, while he was a student in Lviv and Moscow, and after he founded the legendary literary performance group Bu-Ba-Bu. The “Letters to Ukraine,” written by the young poet Andruchowytsch, were repeatedly revised by the author—including for this new edition.
