(D 2025) 104 minutes - FSK 6 - History, Drama Director: Edgar Reitz, Anatol Schuster with Edgar Selge, Aenne Schwarz, Lars Eidinger a.o.
There is a big hole in the life of Prussian Queen Charlotte (Antonia Bill). Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (Edgar Selge), once Charlotte's witty teacher, is no longer with Her Highness at Lietzenburg Palace. However, in order to keep him not only in fond memory but also in her mind, she commissions a portrait painting of Leibniz. He agrees, but it takes a while for it to come together. Only when Aaltje van de Meer (Aenne Schwarz) takes on the commission does everything seem to fall into place. The young painter is Leibniz's intellectual equal. The portrait sessions quickly turn into debates about art and the world.
